Sakura Matsuri / Cherry Blossom Festival

The annual festival held at Stony Brook University’s Wang Center will be held in April this year to match the early blossoming of the cherry blossoms! The festival includes many fun performances, workshops and demonstrations.
Long Island Japanese Culture Center will be doing our usual Ikebana demonstration by the theatre entrance. Please stop by and take the time to view our students’ wonderful pieces of work!

Japan Day Parade

This will be the first time that LIJCC will be participating in the Japan Day Parade and we are very excited!
All students of our center (and their families and friends) will be able to join us in marching down the streets of NYC as part of our group. Come join us to help represent our center and also get a chance to meet other students in person. Don’t forget to enjoy the Street Fair after the Parade, with authentic foods of all kinds from Japan.
Everyone will be free to wear what they wish (yukata, costumes, etc.) but please be sure to wear comfortable shoes as we will be walking a considerable distance.
Check out their WEBSITE and a VIDEO of last year’s parade!

Asian American Festival

The annual Asian American Festival is back! After last year’s cancellation we are hoping to reinvigorate the event and make it better than ever.
LIJCC will, as usual, be in charge of the Japan booths, closest to the stage. This year we will also be joined by elite chefs from KURYU, our partnering food vendor, and RYU SHU KAN, who will provide us with an awesome taiko performance.
We will be looking for volunteers this year as well, more information in regards to sign up coming soon!
